Leave a Gift in Your Will

Leaving a gift in your will to St. George’s Church will help shape the future of your Church.  It is common to leave one of the following

  • A specific amount

  • A percentage of your estate

  • Part or all of an insurance policy

  • Part or all of a registered retirement fund

It is simple to leave a donation in your will. When writing or revising your will, consider what gift you would like to leave to St. George's and make it official in your will.

The following paragraph inserted into your will makes the donation official.

Share these paragraphs with your lawyer.

“I direct my trustees to pay to St. George's Roman Catholic Church, Ottawa the sum of (name amount) for their own use absolutely.”

You may wish to add the following:

“The receipt of the person purporting to be the Treasurer or charged with the duties of the Treasurer for St. George's shall be a complete discharge to my Trustees. If, at the time of my death, St. George's has ceased to exist or has amalgamated with another church or has changed its name, the legacy provided for it shall not fail and my Trustees shall pay the legacy to the charitable organization which they in their discretion consider most closely fulfills the objects I intend to benefit.”
